Question 1

How does the AI timetable generator work?

Accepted Answer

HBA Compass uses a constraint-based scheduling engine with MRV (Minimum Remaining Values) heuristics. It assigns the most constrained teachers first, checks every slot for conflicts in real-time, and balances workload across the week.

Question 2

Can the timetable handle 100+ classes across multiple sections?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The scheduling engine handles 12 grades across 7 sections (84+ classes) simultaneously. Each teacher constraint, subject frequency requirement, and class teacher rule is resolved automatically.

Question 3

Which boards and curricula does Compass support?

Accepted Answer

HBA Compass works with all major educational curricula across state, national, and international boards. The grading system, exam patterns, attendance rules, and report card formats adapt to your board's requirements automatically.

Question 4

What happens if a teacher is absent?

Accepted Answer

The substitution engine automatically identifies teachers who are free during the affected periods, ranks candidates by subject match and current workload, and allows one-click assignment. No manual searching or phone calls to the staffroom required.

Question 5

Is there a free trial?

Accepted Answer

Yes. HBA Compass is free to start with no credit card required. Register, add your school data, and start using the platform without any upfront commitment.

Question 6

How does attendance tracking work?

Accepted Answer

Teachers mark period-wise attendance on any device. Parents receive instant WhatsApp or SMS alerts when their child is absent. The system tracks mandatory 75% attendance thresholds and alerts teachers and parents automatically when a student is at risk.

Question 7

How long does it take to set up HBA Compass?

Accepted Answer

Most schools go live within 1 day. The onboarding team imports your existing student, teacher, and class data. No IT staff required on your end. Your first timetable is generated during the setup session itself.

Question 8

Is student data stored securely?

Accepted Answer

All data is encrypted at rest and in transit using AES-256. Servers are hosted in India. Each school's data is fully isolated — no data is shared across institutions. The platform complies with Indian student data protection guidelines.
